It was a moment of great learning when Reverend Fathers, Brothers and Sisters gathered at the residence of the Bishop of Fort portal Catholic Diocese for the initial field day on 6th May 2026.
The field day organized by the management of the Bishop’s farm together with NARO Rwebitaba ZARDI focused on Dairy production and banana. This was a follow up on the relationship established between the Bishop’s farm and NARO that saw Rwebitaba to guide in the establishment of a Zero grazing facility, offer and establish the initial pasture field to support it.
NARO’s animal health technician Innocent Gumoshabe took the participants through the different feeding combinations as well as the nutritional value in different types of pastures. He also trained the participants in the maintenance of clean grazing structures as well as animal care. Participants expressed gratitude for the work of NARO and inquired about finding resilient breeds for their farms. They also expressed interest in training in coffee, a priority enterprise rolled out by Bishop Dr. Robert Muhiirwa to strengthen household incomes as well as financial stability of parishes
Participating groups included Banyatereza Sisters, Nyabukara, Lake Nkuruba Farm near Kibaale Forest National Park and also from Kinyamasika near Virika.
