The National Crops Resources Research Institute (NaCRRI) proudly welcomed the National Defence College Uganda (NDC-U) for an exclusive tour of its facilities on November 29, 2024. The visit brought together senior officers from Uganda’s defense sector to explore the groundbreaking agricultural research driving sustainable development and food security in the country. This engagement underscored the vital role of agricultural innovation in fostering national resilience and self-reliance.

Dr. Benard Yada, representing NaCRRI’s Research Director, guided the delegation through the institute’s cutting-edge programs, showcasing advancements in climate-smart agriculture, crop productivity, and post-harvest solutions. He highlighted the critical intersection of agriculture and national security, stating, “As we advance research at NaCRRI, we are not just improving crops but also contributing to the broader vision of a resilient and self-reliant Uganda. Innovation in agriculture is integral to the nation’s stability and prosperity.” The NDC-U officers commended NaCRRI’s efforts, particularly in climate resilience and food security, recognizing the transformative role of science and technology in strengthening Uganda’s future.

The visit also emphasized NaCRRI’s alignment with national priorities, such as reducing dependence on imports and ensuring food security. This collaboration between defense and agriculture sectors exemplifies Uganda’s holistic approach to sustainable development, leveraging innovation to address shared challenges and build a stronger, more prosperous nation.
