National Agricultural Research Organisation (NARO) Director of Finance and Administration, CPA Julius Tegiike, has been recognised as Uganda’s Outstanding Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) Achiever, adding another professional milestone to his career in financial management and administration.
Tegiike was honoured by the Institute of Internal Auditors Uganda (IIA-U) during a ceremony celebrating professionals who had attained internationally recognised qualifications in internal auditing, risk management and assurance.
The award recognises Tegiike’s achievement in the CIA programme and his commitment to professional excellence in a field that plays a critical role in strengthening accountability, governance and prudent management of resources.
The ceremony, attended by professionals and stakeholders in the internal audit sector, was presided over by Dr Patricia Ojangole, the Chief Guest.
Tegiike’s recognition was one of the highlights of the evening, alongside the celebration of new CIA, Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) and Internal Audit Practitioner (IAP) achievers.
The IIA-U also recognised two professionals as Young CIA Achievers — Phillip Kasiba and CPA CIA Teddy Naluggwa.
The ceremony further honoured Dr Fixon Akonya Okonye, former Internal Auditor General, for his exceptional mentorship and distinguished service to the internal audit profession throughout his career.
IIA-U described the achievements as a demonstration of the growing commitment among professionals to continuous learning, certification and excellence in internal audit practice.
The NARO Director Corporate Services, Dr. Stevens Kisaka observed that for NARO, Tegiike’s recognition is a significant professional achievement that reinforces the organisation’s commitment to sound financial management, accountability and effective administration.
As Director of Finance and Administration, Tegiike is responsible for providing leadership in the management of NARO’s financial and administrative functions, which support the organisation’s mandate to generate and promote agricultural research and innovations for sustainable agricultural transformation.
His recognition comes at a time when public institutions are increasingly emphasising strong governance, accountability and efficient utilisation of public resources.
The award therefore marks not only a personal achievement for Tegiike, but also a moment of pride for NARO and its staff.
