Bulindi ZARDI has initiated discussions with leaders in Kakumiro District on the establishment of a two-acre demonstration farm, during a stakeholder engagement held on November 19, 2025. The planned demonstration site aims to promote learning, innovation, and the dissemination of improved agricultural technologies and practices that support both agricultural and socio-economic transformation.

During a briefing with the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Dr. Birungi Pauline, BuZARDI’s Outreach Officer, said that the institute intends to establish a well-set-up one-acre demonstration farm to showcase specific technologies, innovations, and management practices (TIMPs) within the district. The Deputy CAO Ms. Kajumba Enid welcomed the initiative and advised that the site should be centrally located to ensure easy access for farmers. The District Production Officer Mr. Sserumaga Geoffrey commended BuZARDI for collaborating closely with the district. “We are ready to work together to transform agriculture,” he said. Dr. Kalunda Patrick, Acting Programme Leader for Technology Promotion and Outreach at BuZARDI, emphasised that the demonstration farm is envisioned as a one-stop learning centre where farmers will acquire practical skills and replicate proven technologies on their own farms.

He added that private-sector partners, particularly seed companies, will be involved to enhance the demonstration site’s impact and attract more farmers. Following the meeting, district production officers guided the team on a field visit, during which a suitable site was identified in Katehe Village, Kibijjo Parish, Kibijjo Sub-county. The team also agreed on a roadmap for establishing the demonstration farm, including farmer sensitisation and awareness activities, participatory selection of enterprises, field training sessions, and farmer-led evaluations. The choice of enterprises will be guided by national priorities and aligned with the Parish Development Model (PDM). A similar demonstration farm will also be established in Hoima District as part of broader NARO efforts to scale up agricultural learning and technology dissemination.
