Bulindi ZARDI actively participated in the business and cultural expo held from May 31st to June 11th, 2024, at Booma Grounds in Hoima city. The expo was a significant part of the celebrations marking the 30th coronation anniversary of His Royal Majesty, Dr. Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I of Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom, themed “Preserving our Culture for Social-economic Transformation.” During the expo, Bulindi ZARDI showcased a range of innovative solutions developed by NARO aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and sustainability. These technologies included: Improved crop varieties focusing on beans, rice and maize.
Improved pastures specifically Napier grass and Chloris Gayana, which enhance livestock productivity through better feeding options.
Crop protection measures including management and control of the devastating fall armyworm in maize.
Post-harvest handling and value addition techniques such as harvesting, processing and packaging quality honey, propolis and bee venom.
The expo served as a platform for Bulindi ZARDI to engage directly with farmers, providing them with practical skills and knowledge on these technologies. It further facilitated the dissemination of information materials and gathered valuable feedback from end-users. This feedback will play a crucial role in shaping future research and development efforts, ensuring that our innovations continue to meet the needs of local farmers and contribute to social-economic development in the kingdom
